Recycling laser printer toner cartridges and inkjet cartridge refills reduces damage to the environmentLaser printer cartridges, discarded inkjet cartridge refills and photocopier toner cartridges are among the most environmentally damaging of all consumable office products. It is estimated that almost a billion toner cartridges are discarded every year, with a very small percentage of those toner cartridges being recycled. As a waste product, toner cartridges are made of mainly non-biodegradable plastic with toxic elements, weighing about 4 pounds (2 kg) each, making them particularly damaging office products to be throwing into landfill sites. Each newly manufactured OEM toner cartridge (original equipmnt manufacturer) uses up nearly 4 liters of petroleum oil to produce (about one US gallon). That's a billion gallons of oil being pumped into landfill sites every year. Despite the negative effect of used toner cartridges in landfill sites, the reality is that they need not be disregarded at all. Recycling toner cartridges is a relatively simple procedure, involving cleaning, grading and refilling. This can be done over and over, without any loss of performance. In most cases the recycled cartridges are much less expensive than new ones. |

The toner cartridge recycling process |

All printing produces waste products - ink and toner cartridges, worn-out printers and tons of printing paper. As our economy grows, business waste increases, so please do your part to become involved in waste management in your office or business. You can contribute to improving the ecological environment by recycling your paper, toner and ink cartridges, rather than throwing them in the garbage. So far, we only have one planet that can sustain human life, and we need to do our part to contribute to its sustainability. Please recycle your toner carrtidges and inkjet ink cartridges. |

High quality recycled and rebuilt toner cartridges actually have a lower failure rate (less than 1.4% per cent) than OEM cartridges (2-5% failure rate of some of the best-known major brands). That would suggest that the recycled and rebuilt toner cartridges are, quite simply, better image products. |

Toner is just powdered ink - magnetized carbon with some iron filings mixed in. Are you willing to pay $20 to $50 more per toner cartridge to subsidize that advertising? It's the same story with overpriced inkjet ink cartridges. One ounce of ink sells for as much as $40. That's $5,120 per US gallon (128 ounces). You thought gasoline was expensive. A 42-gallon barrel of crude oil sells for about $70. A similar barrel of ink would cost $215,040 (plus tax). That must be some special kind of ink.
Toner cartridges are made of plastic that is not biodegradable. When you burn them in an incinerator, you are generating toxins and carciogenic substances and releasing them into into the environment and into people's lungs. Imagine if your child was playing near an incineration plant where toxic waste was being pumped into the air. You might give toner cartridge recycling a second thought then, don't you think?
Here's a question you should ask yourselfIf the products produced by some of these big name corporations were as good as their manufacturers claim, why do they still have to spend millions of dollars on advertising every month? After 40 or 50 years in business, shouldn't they have millions of loyal customers who rave about their products to everyone they meet? Surely after half a century selling the same basic product, there would be absolutely no need to spend a penny on advertising, would there? Unless the real product that they produce is not a toner cartridge. It's advertising. Some people have suggested that many of these large conglomerates are just glorified advertising companies that happen to sell toner cartridges and other office products. They are marketers first; manufacturers second. Their focus is not on producing better toner cartridges. Their focus is on producing better ads. We thought it was time for someone to produce better image products. Don't you agree? Recycling helps your world and gives your business a better image. |
